strengthened each year as a result of our training programs
and support services.
- Over 650 clients have completed Start Up’s training program
since its inception in 1994, and 250+ businesses have been
launched and/or sustained as a result.
- In 2007 Start Up affiliated client businesses represented 13% of all businesses licensed by the City of East Palo Alto.

Start Up has completed 45 cycles of training classes in English or
Spanish, representing over 15,000 training hours to entrepreneurs.

services, representing over 5500 service delivery hours.
Business Impact

helping them to establish and grow their micro-businesses. Currently, while Start Up no longer engages in direct lending, promising micro-business owners are referred to our network of reputable microloan providers.
Qualitative Community Impact
Accompanying these quantitative results are qualitative indicators
of the organization's impact, such as the fact that many program participants
have stated that they found the Start Up program invaluable to the
development and sustenance of their businesses. Start Up is having
a direct, positive impact on people's lives, and giving East Palo
Alto more control over its economic destiny.
