The Future is in Your Hands

Start Up would like to acknowledge and thank its special teams of volunteers who generously give their time, energies, and smiles to making Start Up successful

Stanford Graduate School of Business

Stanford GSB students play an integral part in all aspects of the organization, from providing individualized consulting and technical assistance before each class session to serving on the organization's board of directors.

Approximately 90-100 Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) students participate in Start Up's programs annually, each student providing two to eight hours of volunteer service weekly. Many of the graduate students have extensive experience in management and startup businesses. Therefore, they serve as an invaluable resource to the program and its participants.

Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center

The Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center is another important source of Start Up's volunteers. The Silicon Valley SBDC provides counseling, training, research and advocacy to California's small businesses. The SBDC's experts are experienced entrepreneurs who know the pitfalls and challenges that await small businesses, and their volunteer services help Start Up entrepreneurs identify and overcome these obstacles.

The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)

The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) provides counseling to America's Small Businesses. SCORE volunteers bring to Start Up a wealth of experience in the private sector and a commitment to aiding the growth and success of small businesses. SCORE mentors provide a valuable service to Start Up entrepreneurs through their monthly counseling sessions.

Stanford University Undergraduates

Each year, several undergraduate students from Stanford volunteer their time with Start Up. Most come to Start Up either through a class (such as Political Science 104 - Urban Policy Seminar), or through the Haas Center for Public Service. Stanford students help Start Up in a number of ways. Past volunteers have worked on technology projects and helped with Start Up's weekly training classes.
