As a Start Up volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make an immediate and direct impact on the lives of individuals living in and around East Palo Alto. We have a number of volunteer opportunities available, and are open to your particular interests.

2. Help build the community of East Palo Alto

The decision to found Start Up in East Palo Alto, CA, was quite deliberate given the city's striking ethnic diversity, predominantly low-income population, and limited local employment opportunities. Help us to bridge the "economic divide" between East Palo Alto and other Silicon Valley communities.

3. Your unique talents are needed

Whether your talents and experiences are in business or elsewhere, Start Up needs your unique perspective and contributions.

4. Getting involved has never been so much fun

Surrounded by an energetic and talented cast of fellow Start Up volunteers, business professionals, staff members, and entrepreneurs, you will find that helping others is also a lot of fun!

5. College credit

If you are a college student, you may be able to earn college credit from your school. For example, Stanford University offers an urban policy seminar through which students can fulfill credits toward graduation by volunteering at Start Up.

6. Learn more about small business

Becoming a Start Up volunteer is a great way to learn more about small businesses. Several of our volunteers and staff members have also enrolled in Start Up's training classes.

7. Network with other business professionals

Working with Start Up also gives volunteers a chance to network with other business professionals in Silicon Valley.
